Overview Sign On Bonus: $10,000.00 Career Opportunity Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada has an exciting opportunity for a Nuclear Med Tech in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this role you will work with highly qualified physicians while providing care to patients in a reputable health care organization. Responsibilities Prepare radioactive isotopes for administration to patients in accordance with physicians orders. Operate scintillation detection equipment and scanners to measure isotope concentrations and record visual representations. Conduct organ or body scans with radioactive isotopes to provide diagnostic aid to physicians. Administer isotope dosage, record dosage, and observe patients during procedures, reporting unusual occurrences. Perform laboratory tests on body specimens, compute results, and keep records of tests and disposition of isotopes and body products. Offer expertise to physicians regarding appropriateness of additional or modified studies, escort patients to treatment room, and assist with dressings as necessary. Complete all paperwork necessary to ensure timely delivery of services, log nuclear medicine procedures, and process routine paperwork. Provide protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Ensure the safety and physical comfort of the patient while in technologist’s care. Conduct daily quality control measures to monitor machine performance and report all malfunctions or need for adjustments. Arrange preventive maintenance as recommended by vendor and follow prescribed safety standards in operating equipment. Maintain radiation detection badges, file all radiation reports, and maintain adequate inventory of clinical and clerical supplies. Order, log, and return outside films requested from other agencies, and arrange for the release of films to patients and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality of all information related to patients and medical staff. Qualifications Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school. Minimum three years’ experience as a Nuclear Medical Technologist. Certification as a registered radiologic technologist (ARRT). Current IV and CPR certifications. Physical Demands Physical demands include full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, pushing and lifting patients in wheelchairs or stretchers up to 300 pounds, reaching above shoulder height, and sitting or standing for extensive periods. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range is required. Work Environment Work environment includes regular exposure to direct contact with patients potentially involving blood, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
