Quality Control Supervisor

Target Pay Rate: $29–$33 / hour, based on experience

Eligibility: U.S. citizens or residents / EAD only

Requirements: Must have 4-5+ years of lead experience in a manufacturing or quality control environment.

Our partner, a fast-growing manufacturer in central Iowa, is seeking a Quality Control Supervisor to lead day-to-day inspection activities across multiple production areas. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a stable company in a high-growth electrical and infrastructure industry.

In this role, you will provide front-line leadership to a team of Quality Control Inspectors, ensuring product compliance, safe work practices, and adherence to established quality standards. You’ll oversee inspection activities across multiple quality gates—including Steel, Paint, Mounting, Wiring, Enclosure, and Special Projects—while managing manpower planning, daily priorities, and communication of quality risks. This role requires a strong floor presence, structured planning, and the ability to think strategically while leading in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise Quality Control Inspectors to meet daily production and Ready-to-Ship (RTS) goals

• Assign work, set priorities, and monitor inspection execution across all quality gates

• Develop and execute daily and weekly manpower plans based on workload and staffing

• Coach, train, and evaluate inspectors, including performance documentation

• Maintain training schedules and versatility matrices to ensure proper skill coverage

• Reinforce a strong quality culture focused on ownership and continuous improvement

• Participate in Quality Improvement Board meetings and support Defects Per Unit (DPU) reduction efforts

• Communicate priorities, quality risks, nonconformances, and engineering alerts to cross-functional teams

• Manage quality equipment, including calibration tracking and preventive maintenance coordination

• Approve timekeeping, attendance, and performance evaluations for direct reports

• Serve as a visible safety leader on the production floor

• Lead containment actions and initial root cause discussions for quality issues

• Perform inspections as needed to support production flow

Qualifications

• 4–5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or quality control environment

• Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day production and staffing priorities

• Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

• Clear verbal and written communication

• Working knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving

• Proficiency with standard computer applications and manufacturing systems

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Schedule & Compensation

• Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (overtime as needed, sometimes starting at 6:00 AM)

• Competitive pay of $29–33 / hour, based on experience

Physical Requirements

• Continuous speaking, hearing, and visual effort

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and reaching

• Lift up to 40 lbs independently

• Occasional assisted lifts up to 100 lbs

• Work in a manufacturing environment with noise, machinery, and production hazards

• Ability to stand, walk, and safely climb ladders as needed
