Position Summary As a member of the Patient Care Centered Team, the Information Associate provides clerical, communication, reception, supply management and other supportive services for the Patient Care Center to ensure high quality services to patients, family members and other hospital staff. The Information Associate will be available to meet the needs of all Patient Care Centers as needed. Work Focus: Responsible for the daily operations and oversight of staff. Supervisors work in collaboration with department managers to manage staff and department effectively. Participates in and contributes to the performance management/review process. Implements departmental plans and priorities identified by accountable leaders. May participate and recommend in the hiring and selection process. Responds promptly and directly to meet or exceed customers’ needs. Process Focus: Follows standards of performance and work processes in designated areas. Coordinates staff scheduling and assignment. Reviews and approves administrative functions such as time, payroll, and expense. Stewards productive use of resources to achieve assigned commitments and quality standards. Communication: Employs effective and respectful written, verbal and nonverbal communication; develops an environment of mutual confidence and trust through collaborative relationships; effectively communicates goals, standards, program expectations, service performance, and how the work serves Trinity Health objectives; proactively recognizes and addresses organizational, operational or team conflicts. Environment: Performs work in an environmentally safe, professional and healthy manner; self‑monitors and initiates corrections and/or seeks guidance when needed. Demonstrates flexibility and self‑direction by responding as a team player. Helps to create a positive work environment that promotes productivity. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, the Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of Conduct, and other policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, professional behavior and safe work practices. Functional Role Supervisor – Pre‑service: Ensures adequate controls are maintained over cash collections and that payments are properly handled by hospital policy and accurately recorded and promptly forwarded to the Cashiers Office. Coordinates investigation and resolution of problems from patient/family or staff complaints. Resolves patient questions regarding payment requirements and charges referred by scheduling and verification team colleagues. Supervisor – Patient Access: Maintains and demonstrates knowledge to supervise each functional area, including outpatient registration points, emergency room registration, admissions, bed assignment and financial counseling. Monitors the patient tracking system, registration reports and financial clearance activities to ensure patients are registered within key performance standards. Monitors all financial clearance activity ensuring all accounts are verified at time of service and meet medical necessity requirements. Coordinates investigation and resolution of problems from patient/family or staff complaints. Resolves patient questions regarding payment requirements and charges referred by registrars. Provides operational guidance and support to assigned team, disseminates policy and procedure updates, and supports coverage of other departmental divisions as required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Two to three years of experience in pre‑service or patient access operations with supervisory or lead responsibilities. National certification in HFMA CRCR, NAHAM CHAA, and/or NAHAM CHAM required within one year of hire. Additional Qualifications (Preferred) Associate degree in patient accounting. Pay Range Pay range: $24.60–$36.90 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the FLSA will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
