Responsibilities You will be the direct supervisor for the ICU department and: Organize safe and effective care of the patient, collaborating with the Director, physicians, technicians, and allied health practitioners. Assist with the supervision, coordination and evaluation of nursing care provided on the assigned unit. Coordinate and supervise the activities for the unit, which support the safe and efficient delivery of care. Implement performance improvement activities, hospital policies, procedures and assist with the financial management of the unit. Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations. Notify responsible practitioners of significant changes in patient condition, facilitate management of follow‑up care. Assess readiness for treatment and care. Utilize data collected in the assessment, and in collaboration with other health care providers, formulate a plan of care, and update as needed to achieve the optimal patient outcome. Supervise care provided by RNs, technicians, and students. Supervise staff for quality of care provided by direct reports. Act as a patient advocate; facilitate appropriate communication of and resolution for patient concerns. Prepare, compile, and maintain required statistical reports. Participate in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities. Participate in the interviewing and hiring of new staff. Schedule staff. Serve as clinical resource for the nursing unit. Education BSN required. Licensing and Certification Licensed RN in the state of Texas; ACLS and BLS required. Specialty Certification is preferred and must be obtained within the first year of employment. Professional Nursing Organization Membership required. Experience Preferred 3 years minimum of clinical and/or supervisory experience in ICU. We are an equal‑opportunity employer.
