Where You Will Work: District Two - Lake City Office 1109 South Marion Avenue Lake City, Florida 32025 Your Specific Responsibilities: Conducts environmental impact reviews of transportation improvement projects involving contamination, cultural resources, natural resources, and/or noise related issues. Independently performs environmental work including conducting and documenting field reviews and analyzing information from Geographical Information Systems (GIS) based systems. Prepares National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other Project Development and Environment (PD&E) environmental documentation, including writing technical memos, reports and generating correspondence. Supports environmental review and documentation preparation for higher level classes of action. Conducts these activities in support of the scheduled Final Design Production date.
Independently reviews construction plans for low to midrange complexity roadway projects and supports review of high complexity projects. Provides comments through Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) electronic review system during the production phases of projects for compliance with statutes, rules, policies and procedures as outlined in the PD&E Manual. Coordinates comments and recommendations with Environmental Manager and project manager or others as appropriate.
Prepares draft Environmental Documents and Certifications and coordinates with Environmental Manager to obtain signature in support of the scheduled Final Design Production Date. Participates in preparing, tracking, and reviewing project commitments from PD&E through Final Design and Construction phases. Maintains project file information and inputs project information into FDOT databases. Collaborates with Efficient Transportation Decision Making (ETDM) coordinator, prepares or reviews information for the ETDM screening events, reviews agency commentary and supports preparation of FDOT responses to agency comments. Responds to inquiries from other agencies and the public including Public Records Requests or other correspondence coming through FDOT Tracker as assigned.
Participates as a Technical Review Committee member for project consultant selection. Participates in project consultant management activities including scope development and staff hour negotiations. Participates as technical support for and in the development of Request for Proposals.
Assists with studies, research, application or project reviews and site inspections or surveys on transportation improvement projects for Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), or Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funded projects. Assists with district level NEPA assignment activities including but not limited to self-assessments, audits, data entry and responding to inquiries from FDOT's Office of Environmental Management (OEM).

- Ability to use computer programs including database and GIS systems.
- Ability to deal with the public in a courteous manner.

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collect, evaluate and interpret data.
