Employee Relations Specialist

$59k - $85k

Jobgether

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist based in United States.

This role is responsible for managing complex employee relations matters across a multi-location workforce, with a primary focus on the Southwest region.
You'll lead sensitive workplace investigations, manage accommodations, and support responses to external employment-related legal claims.
The position combines employee advocacy, risk management, compliance, and practical guidance for field leaders.
You'll work closely with HR, Legal, and operational stakeholders to ensure cases are handled consistently, fairly, and within required timelines.
The role also involves analyzing case trends, delivering manager training, and identifying opportunities to strengthen workplace practices.
You'll use case management technology and AI-enabled tools to improve documentation, efficiency, and trend analysis.
This is a fully remote opportunity for a bilingual professional who can operate independently while collaborating across North American time zones.

Accountabilities

  • Employee relations and investigations: Manage incoming employee relations concerns and conduct timely, thorough, objective investigations involving harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, policy violations, and other workplace issues.
  • Case management: Assess evidence and credibility, determine appropriate recommendations, document cases accurately, and ensure matters progress from intake through resolution within established service expectations.
  • Bilingual support: Conduct employee relations discussions, investigations, and accommodation processes professionally in both English and Spanish.
  • Accommodation management: Lead the interactive accommodation process, coordinating with field leaders to evaluate appropriate solutions while maintaining compliance with applicable disability and human rights requirements.
  • Legal case support: Partner with Legal and senior employee relations stakeholders on external claims, preparing case summaries, chronologies, factual statements, investigation materials, and other documentation required for legal review.
  • Compliance and documentation: Maintain complete, accurate, confidential, and audit-ready case records and ensure all required timelines and documentation standards are met.
  • Manager coaching and training: Deliver training and ongoing guidance to leaders on investigations, employee relations practices, accommodations, and employment compliance.
  • Reporting and analytics: Analyze employee relations data, identify recurring issues and systemic risks, and provide regional insights, recommendations, and proactive action plans to stakeholders.
  • Background checks: Manage pre-employment and promotion-related background check adjudications while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal standards.
  • Technology and continuous improvement: Leverage case management systems and AI-enabled tools to improve case summaries, documentation quality, efficiency, consistency, and trend analysis.
  • Cross-functional partnership: Build trusted relationships with HR, Legal, field leadership, and other stakeholders while supporting broader employee relations initiatives and organizational improvements.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of Human Resources experience, including a minimum of 3 years focused on complex employee relations, workplace investigations, and accommodations within a multi-location organization.
  • Investigative expertise: Strong ability to investigate sensitive complaints, evaluate evidence, assess risk, identify inconsistencies, and reach objective, defensible conclusions.
  • Employment law knowledge: Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment law frameworks, with the ability and willingness to develop broader knowledge across U.S. and Canadian requirements.
  • Bilingual communication: Fluency in both written and spoken English and Spanish is required, with the ability to manage sensitive employee interactions in both languages.
  • Legal and compliance experience: Experience supporting external employment-related legal claims or working closely with legal counsel is preferred.
  • Judgment and discretion: Exceptional ability to handle confidential information with professionalism, integrity, objectivity, and sound judgment.
  • Communication and influence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex or sensitive matters clearly and influence leaders at different levels.
  • Organization: Strong prioritization, time management, and case-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex matters while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Resilience: Comfortable remaining composed and effective in high-pressure, emotionally charged, ambiguous, or challenging situations.
  • Technology: Comfortable using case management systems, HR technology, reporting tools, and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency and decision-making.
  • Work style: Self-directed and accountable in a remote environment, while maintaining responsiveness, collaboration, and clear communication across multiple time zones.
  • Continuous improvement: Curious, proactive, and committed to identifying trends, mitigating risks, and improving employee relations practices.
  • Certification: PHR, SPHR, or CPHR certification is preferred.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% or less as required.
  • Location: Must be based in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, or Texas and be available to work primarily within Pacific or Mountain time while supporting collaboration across North America.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range of $59,000-$85,000 .
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage at a reasonable cost.
  • Specialized health and wellness programs, including counseling and condition-management resources.
  • Sick pay and approximately two weeks of vacation.
  • Six paid holidays plus one to two additional floating holidays.
  • Employee discounts of up to 50% on store merchandise.
  • Flexible spending accounts for eligible healthcare and dependent-care expenses.
  • Employee Assistance Program with free resources supporting well-being and work-life balance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with generous company matching contributions.
  • Company-provided life insurance, with supplemental coverage available.

  • Annual bonus opportunities.
  • Performance-based merit increases.
  • Fully remote work arrangement.
  • Comprehensive onboarding and training, including internally developed professional learning opportunities.
