Senior Land Development Manager

D.R. Horton, Inc. is the largest homebuilder in the U.S. and is looking for a Senior Land Development Manager in Washington. The role will manage Land Development Managers and Project Managers, ensuring quality, consistency, and efficiency in the development process of raw land into lots for single and multi-family homes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and manage employees in Land Development: interview, hire, train, plan, assign work, appraise performance, reward and discipline, address complaints, and resolve problems. Conduct business operations for Land Development. Assist and support master planning efforts. Oversee the Milestone Schedule related to the Division’s business plan. Coordinate land development activities with ongoing agricultural operations to facilitate timely transition of land uses. Plan, direct, and manage land development activities, including engineering design, entitlements, scheduling, and development. Develop policies for usage, sale of properties, and construction schedules. Budget for and manage planning of construction entrances, lots, amenities, and associated infrastructure (road, drainage, water, sewer, landscaping, utilities, paving, amenities). Represent DR Horton in interfacing with government officials, utility companies, and the public on entitlements and infrastructure development. Willingness to drive extensively and travel between development sites. Communicate status of development projects to team members. Work well with city inspectors and third‑party contractors. Review plats and engineering plans for land development. Conduct all business professionally and ethically to serve customers and increase goodwill and profit. Ability to travel overnight. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises 2 or more employees. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management or related field. Ten years of related experience and/or training. Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license. Strong written and oral communication skills. Problem‑solving and time‑management skills. Ability to develop cost‑effective solutions as challenges arise. Ability to apply common sense and follow instructions in written or oral form or via DRH applications. Proficiency with MS Office and email. Physical ability: stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to 8‑hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel, bend, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, crawl; walk up and down stairs; walk on uneven terrain; use hands to handle; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Requires close vision and peripheral vision. Regular exposure to outside weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Experience in development of master‑planned communities.
