Role Overview
Apply advanced 3D rigging expertise to a character and hand design project that helps train next generation AI systems through high quality, real world input. This remote contract role focuses on building expressive, animation ready hand rigs for 3D environments. No prior AI experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and refine hand focused character rigs for animation and simulation in 3D environments.
- Deliver accurate weight painting, joint placement, and deformation solutions for realistic or stylized hand movement.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot rigging issues to improve usability and animation fluidity.
- Collaborate with creative and technical stakeholders to align rig functionality with project objectives and artistic vision.
- Document rigging processes, workflows, and tool usage to support knowledge transfer and reproducible work.
- Provide clear written and verbal feedback on rigging assignments and participate in remote discussions to maintain project clarity.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated character rigging expertise, supported by a portfolio or work samples showing complex hand and finger articulation.
- Advanced proficiency with Maya, Blender, or comparable 3D software.
- Strong knowledge of hand anatomy and the ability to translate it into functional animation rigs.
- Experience with weight painting, joint placement, deformation solutions, and rigging troubleshooting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, clear documentation practices, and a collaborative problem solving approach.
- Experience completing remote creative or technical project work.
- Detail oriented approach and interest in character mechanics and user focused design.
- Scripting or automation experience for rigging pipelines is a plus.
