Role Description

The Construction Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Norwalk, CT. This role is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for residential and/or commercial construction projects, including analyzing drawings, specifications, and project scopes. Day-to-day tasks include performing quantity take-offs, gathering and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes, and developing accurate budgets and bid proposals. The estimator will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements, refine estimates, and support cost control throughout the project lifecycle. The role also involves maintaining up-to-date cost databases, monitoring market pricing, and preparing clear documentation and reports to support internal decision-making and client presentations.

Qualifications

1. Strong Construction Estimating skills, including the ability to interpret plans, specifications, and scopes of work.
2. Proficiency in Quantity Take-offs, with experience using estimating software or digital tools to measure materials and labor.
3. Demonstrated Cost Management and Budgeting skills to develop accurate project budgets and support ongoing cost control.
4. Effective Communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present estimates clearly.
5. Prior experience as a construction estimator or in a related construction management role.
6. Familiarity with local building codes, construction methods, and industry pricing in the Norwalk, CT area or similar markets.
7. Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
8. Proficiency in MS Excel and common estimating or project management software; CAD or BIM experience is a plus.
9. Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
