Medical Director - part time (2 hrs/week)

Position Medical Director Schedule: Part time (2 hrs/wk) Facility: Sam Purdue JC Location: Princeton, West Virginia Position Summary Under administrative and clinical supervision of the Regional Medical Director, the Site Medical Director is responsible for promoting and providing high-quality medical care, working collegially with other medical professionals, and maintaining utilization management and clinical practice standards. Responsibilities Participate in Clinical Case/Disease Management initiatives. Treat difficult-to-manage patients with chronic disease and utilize corporate clinical experts. Review patients for Collegial Review, prepare and present cases; ensure no backlogs for chronic care clinics and sick call. Ensure appropriate infirmary care, supervise infirmary rounds, review care plans for patients returning from hospitalizations. Review and sign off on labs daily. Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to staff physicians and mid-level providers. Work closely with site manager to ensure efficient patient care. Respond to corporate, state‑wide, regional medical directors and managers; respond to emails at least twice daily; respond to the agency medical director with guidance. Address medical grievances with assistance of site managers. Communicate regularly with dentists, mental health professionals, and optometrists to develop a holistic approach. Communicate clinical and administrative issues to site manager and regional medical director efficiently; develop corrective action plans. Perform death and case reviews before sending to regional medical director. Perform peer reviews on medical directors/providers from other facilities. Participate in monthly reviews of off-site care, DME utilization, provider prescriptive practice, laboratory, and x‑ray services with regional leadership. Meet with the Warden/AWP regularly and develop good working relationships with security. Assist staffing in provider recruiting initiatives. Participate in provider training and audits. Ensure site clinical coverage; share in after-hours and weekend call duties. Perform other duties as assigned by state‑wide and regional medical directors. Job Requirements Licensure: Current West Virginia Medical license; Current West Virginia Controlled Substance license; Current DEA. Certification: Current CPR certification required; CCHP certification preferred. Education: Medical Degree required. Board certified or Board eligible preferred.
