Production Supervisor

Summary The Production Supervisor coordinates and oversees production operations involved in the manufacturing process. Responsibilities Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. Follow plans and schedules of mill and kiln operations in coordination with maintenance, quality control, shipping, and production personnel. Establish, assign, and communicate job responsibilities and schedules for the shift personnel directly involved in the production process. Supervise and evaluate job performance. Monitor and maintain records of attendance. Participate, conduct and ensure regular safety meetings and training sessions are held. Conduct safety inspections and order safety equipment per safety guidelines to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Monitor kiln burning operations and raw mill and finish mill grinding operations. Review production data and prepare reports. Assist employees with production problems and ensure satisfactory production operations. Assist in resolving union problems and grievance. Supervise record keeping and monitoring of BIF operating parameters as generated from the plant control room. Serve as Alternate Emergency Coordinator for the Emergency Response Team and attend RCRA training for waste‑derived fuel activities. Order tools and supplies needed for use in the manufacturing process. Request and supervise repairs and preventive maintenance performed on the mills, kilns, and other machinery used in production operations. Provide information regularly to management regarding current operations and manpower status. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications Vocational or technical degree in production, process control, or a similar related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in production with an emphasis on process control in a similar industry. Proficiency in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills. Ability to lead and manage others. Ability to effectively manage conflict. Knowledge of production operations involved in the industry, kiln‑burning techniques, and processes. Knowledge of the mill grinding, process control design, inventory estimation using geometric calculations, and machines utilized in the production process. Knowledge of air permit regulations and safety requirements. Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly. Ability to work under general supervision on assigned objectives. Ability to refer to a supervisor for guidance on unusual problems or circumstances.
