We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Phlebotomist I to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be skilled in performing blood draws, specimen labeling, and specimen processing while maintaining a high standard of customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and labeling of specimens with accuracy and efficiency.
• Centrifuge and decontaminate specimens, and record maintenance data.
• Update patient information as required.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures, including urine and fecal samples.
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and specimen collection to patients.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper temperature storage and accurate labeling.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working as a phlebotomist
• IOP role experience in a primary care specialty
• Ability to perform 15-20+ blood draws per day
• Experience with patients of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Work Environment

This position requires working independently in a primary care setting. Employees will be standing for the duration of their shifts, managing a diverse patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.

This is a Contract position based out of The Woodlands, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
