School Bus Driver

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious School Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from school, field trips, and other scheduled activities. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, has excellent driving skills, and takes pride in providing safe, dependable transportation.

A valid CDL with Passenger (P) endorsement is required. Candidates must meet all applicable Illinois requirements for operating a school bus.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and scheduled activities.

• Follow assigned routes, schedules, and transportation procedures.

• Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful environment on the bus.

• Follow all traffic laws, school transportation regulations, and safety procedures.

• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

• Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, accidents, or incidents promptly.

• Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus safely when needed.

• Maintain appropriate communication with school staff, parents/guardians, and transportation personnel.

• Keep the school bus clean and in safe operating condition.

• Complete required transportation records and reports.

• Maintain student confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.

• Participate in required safety training and meetings.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL with Passenger (P) endorsement — REQUIRED.

• School Bus (S) endorsement or eligibility to obtain it, as required by Illinois regulations.

• Clean and acceptable driving record.

• Ability to pass required background checks, drug/alcohol testing, and physical/medical requirements.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff.

• Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when working with children.

• Previous school bus, commercial driving, transportation, or childcare experience is preferred but not required.
