Position Summary/Purpose:


As a medical-surgical nurse, you will play a central role in providing exceptional care to patients undergoing surgery or receiving treatment in our medical-surgical unit. This vital position places you at the forefront of patient care, where you'll collaborate closely with physicians, surgeons, and a dedicated healthcare team to deliver comprehensive, individualized care. Your clinical expertise, keen attention to detail, and effective communication skills will be essential in upholding the highest standards of care and making a positive impact on patient recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients' health conditions by conducting physical examinations and reviewing medical histories.
• Administer medications and treatments prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation, and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
• Assist surgeons and physicians during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments, sterile supplies, and medications.
• Perform various nursing procedures, including wound care, catheterization, and tube feedings.
• Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and provide immediate care to stabilize patients.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Education:
  • Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, AD)
• Required Licensure / Certification:
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • CPR-BCLS
  • Diagnostic & Support: ACLS is required before completion of orientation.
  • NIH Stroke Scale required before completion of orientation.
• Required Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
  • Maintains professional appearance at all times.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
