Coordinator, Visually Impaired and Deaf-Blind Programs

Coordinator, Visually Impaired and Deaf‑Blind Programs Responsible for leading and supporting staff, services, and specialized equipment for the Visually Impaired and Deaf‑Blind Program. Reports to the Supervisor of Sensory Programs and Related Services. Oversees staff assignments and caseloads, ensures compliance with district, state, and federal requirements, and provides leadership through IEP participation, staff coaching, and professional development. Supervises staff including hiring, training, evaluation, and performance management while collaborating with program leadership. Preferred expertise includes visual impairments, orientation and mobility, braille instruction and production, assistive technology, accommodations, and instructional practices for students who are visually impaired or deaf‑blind. QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Degree in educational leadership, administration/supervision, or related field preferred. Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in education or project management related field, with two (2) years of related management or supervisory experience preferred. Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Educational Leadership, School Principal, or Administration and Supervision preferred. Language Skills: Reads and interprets general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Writes reports, correspondence, and manuals. Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public. Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing. Lifting Demands: Up to 10 pounds. Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead. Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity 3, moderate. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires traveling to various school sites, work locations and/or community organizations throughout the district.

SUPERVISORY EXPECTATIONS

Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
