Location: Denver, CO

Salary: $180,000–$225,000 annually + Performance-Based Bonus

Position Overview

A leading national building engineering and consulting firm is seeking an experienced National Practice Leader – Building Enclosure Engineering, Design & Consulting to provide technical leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for its growing building enclosure practice.

This senior leadership position will serve as the organization's primary technical authority on building enclosure engineering, design, consulting, commissioning, investigation, repair, and rehabilitation. The National Practice Leader will be responsible for advancing technical excellence, developing consistent standards across regional teams, mentoring professionals, and supporting the continued growth of the practice nationwide. The ideal candidate is a recognized building enclosure expert with extensive technical experience, proven leadership capabilities, and a passion for developing people, improving processes, and shaping the future of building science consulting.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Practice Development

• Serve as the national subject matter expert for building enclosure engineering, design, consulting, commissioning, and rehabilitation.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to engineers, architects, consultants, and project teams across multiple regions.
• Establish and continuously improve technical standards, design methodologies, quality control procedures, and industry best practices.
• Conduct technical reviews of complex projects, reports, and deliverables to ensure consistency and quality.
• Identify opportunities for innovation, process improvements, and technical development throughout the practice.

Strategic Leadership & Business Growth

• Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute short- and long-term growth strategies.
• Support strategic planning related to staffing, resource allocation, market expansion, service offerings, and operational performance.
• Identify emerging technologies, industry trends, and market opportunities.
• Support business development efforts, strategic client relationships, and complex multidisciplinary pursuits.
• Contribute to revenue growth through technical leadership, industry visibility, and client engagement.

Training, Mentorship & Professional Development

• Develop and implement technical training programs, continuing education opportunities, and professional development initiatives.
• Mentor consultants, project managers, engineers, architects, and emerging technical leaders.
• Lead technical workshops, seminars, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Promote collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning across regional teams.
• Support career development and succession planning within the practice.

Technical Standards & Quality Management

• Develop and maintain technical standards, design guides, work instructions, templates, and quality assurance procedures.
• Ensure technical teams remain current with applicable building codes, industry standards, technologies, and best practices.
• Oversee technical resources and proprietary methodologies.
• Drive consistency in technical processes, project execution, and deliverable quality across the organization.

Industry Leadership & Client Engagement

• Represent the organization through professional associations, industry committees, conferences, and technical events.
• Contribute to industry research, technical publications, and professional presentations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor on complex building enclosure challenges involving new construction, existing buildings, restoration, rehabilitation, and commissioning.

Project & Operational Support

• Maintain involvement in select complex projects as a senior technical advisor.
• Provide oversight related to project scope, technical approach, quality, and execution.
• Support hiring, onboarding, staffing, and performance management initiatives.
• Collaborate with operational leadership to improve efficiency, productivity, and overall practice performance.
• Travel as needed to support regional teams, clients, and project activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or a related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting, engineering, architecture, construction, building science, or a related field.
• Relevant professional licensure or industry credentials, such as PE, RA, RBEC, RRC, REWC, RWC, or CBECxP.
• Extensive technical expertise in building enclosure systems, including roofing, waterproofing, facades, fenestration, and air, water, thermal, and vapor control systems.
• Strong knowledge of building enclosure design, investigation, testing, commissioning, rehabilitation, and construction practices.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, mentoring professionals, and establishing technical standards.
• Experience supporting strategic planning, business development, and organizational growth.
• Excellent technical writing, presentation, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to balance high-level strategic responsibilities with hands-on technical project involvement.
• Familiarity with industry software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, and Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to travel nationally as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license.
• Experience leading national or multi-regional technical consulting teams.
• Recognized industry expertise demonstrated through publications, presentations, professional committees, or technical contributions.
• Experience developing technical training programs and professional development initiatives.
• Expertise spanning both new construction enclosure consulting and existing building repair, restoration, and rehabilitation.
• Active involvement in professional organizations such as IIBEC, AIA, ASCE, or CSI.
