Role Summary

\n

Responsible for the implementation, tuning, and validation of unit-level and grid-code compliant control firmware for power electronic and generation assets within microgrid and utility-connected systems. This role bridges equipment-level control logic and regulatory grid code requirements across PCS, BESS, generators, and auxiliary systems, ensuring safe, deterministic, and compliant operation under all operating conditions.

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Implement unit-level control logic for PCS, BESS, generators, SSTs, and balance-of-plant equipment
\n
• Develop startup, shutdown, fault handling, and recovery sequences with deterministic behavior
\n
• Implement grid-code required functions including voltage control, frequency response, LVRT/HVRT, and protection coordination
\n
• Develop and tune GFL and GFM control modes including active/reactive power control and ramp-rate limits
\n
• Implement local safety limits, interlocks, fallback logic, and protective functions
\n
• Ensure proper prioritization and coordination of commands between unit controllers, real-time controllers, and EMS
\n
• Validate control firmware through simulation, SIL, HIL, factory testing, and field commissioning support
\n
• Support certification, type testing, and utility or regulatory compliance demonstrations
\n
• Troubleshoot field issues and support commissioning activities
\n
• Document control logic, state machines, configuration parameters, and known limitations
\n

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Controls, or related field (Master’s preferred)
\n
• 3–7+ years of experience in control firmware implementation for PCS, inverters, or unit controllers
\n
• Strong understanding of inverter-based resource behavior and utility grid codes
\n
• Experience with PLCs, embedded controllers, or real-time control platforms
\n
• Familiarity with dynamic simulation and validation tools such as PSCAD or equivalent
\n
• Strong debugging, system integration, and cross-functional collaboration skills
\n
