JOB GOALS:

An Assistant Principal at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park is responsible for the leadership and supervision of students and staff at one of the three comprehensive high schools located within the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park. The Assistant Principal performs his/her responsibilities as a member of the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Administrative Team. Responsibilities include leading the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of the instructional program. In addition, he/she is responsible for the supervision of the personnel and students under his/her jurisdiction, the development of positive community relations between the high schools, district, and community, and the adherence to all policies and procedures of the Board of Education.

Plymouth-Canton is seeking to employ culturally responsive educators who will be able to support and sustain equity-focused instruction for all learners. These educators create high achieving learning environments. They identify and systematically apply differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners from all racial groups. Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge of effective leadership practices, instruction, analysis of appropriate data, and be able to design and implement appropriate responses based on results.

QUALIFICATIONS :
  1. Possess an advanced degree, Masters or higher, from an accredited institution with emphasis in educational leadership, school administration and/or curriculum or other related field.
  2. Possess (or immediately qualify for) a valid Michigan Teaching certificate.
  3. Possess (or immediately qualify for) a valid Michigan Administrator certificate.
  4. Three years' experience as a middle or high school educator.
  5. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership that result in teamwork and collaborative working relationships.
  6. Demonstrated leadership in the ability to communicate a clear vision and to work cooperatively with colleagues to attain the vision.
  7. Evidence of ability to establish working relationships that result in mutual respect.
  8. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
  9. Strong knowledge base in middle and high school curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  10. Knowledge of federal and state educational mandates.
  11. Demonstrate a willingness to take professional risks to improve opportunities for students.
  12. Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provides leadership for high school curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  2. Communicates the philosophy, goals and objectives of the high school program to the students, parents, staff members, and to the community at large.
  3. Provides leadership to meet and exceed the standards in the state accreditation program, school improvement framework, and federal adequate yearly progress.
  4. Monitors adherence to the approved curriculum and appropriate instructional practices.
  5. Assumes responsibility for the administration of high school assessments and the reporting of results.
  6. Contributes to the design and implementation of professional staff development programs to support high school and district goals.
  7. Works collaboratively as a member of the high school leadership team to meet and exceed high school and district goals.
  8. Coordinates with the Building Principal and the district Human Resources Department the recruiting, interviewing, screening, and recommending of qualified candidates for high school staff positions.
  9. Evaluates and reviews the performance of staff assigned to the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park.
  10. Provides guidance in resolving conflict with staff, administrators, and parents.
  11. Creates and maintains a safe environment for all students and staff.
  12. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline according to due process standards.
  13. Supervises and actively participates in afternoon and evening school activities as assigned.
  14. Assists in developing, implementing and monitoring the department budget, which supports the high school instructional program.
  15. Works cooperatively with other administrators in the areas of pupil accounting, facility use, staff assignments, financial resource development, and coordination of schedules.
  16. Ensures compliance with all policies of the Board of Education and administrative guidelines and procedures by administrators, staff, and students.
  17. Attends and participates in Board of Education meetings, as well as in appropriate committee meetings to support the work of the high schools, district, and community.
  18. Bending, lifting, and overhead work required
  19. Performs such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Building Principal or Executive Director of High School Education.

REPORTS TO : Building Principal

SALARY : Range $108,181 - $131,929

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 225 daysper year

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.

Upon recommendation for employment, Section 1230g, as amended, of the Revised School Code requires all school employees to be electronically finger printed for the purpose of undergoing a criminal history background check. The fingerprinting is conducted by a third party and is at the expense of the applicant. Cost for fingerprinting is approximately $70.00.
