Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides expert nursing care to emergency room patients, assessing, planning, and implementing interventions to meet individual needs. Ensures timely, safe, and effective treatment while maintaining patient dignity and fostering positive self-regard.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and reassess patients' conditions upon arrival and throughout their ER stay to determine urgent needs.
• Develop and modify care plans based on patient assessment, standards of care, protocols, and policies.
• Administer medications, including IV therapy and vasoactive drugs, following physician orders and safety protocols.
• Document all interventions, patient responses, and pertinent data accurately and promptly.
• Recognize and respond to abnormal lab and diagnostic results, notifying physicians as appropriate.
• Identify at-risk patients for abuse, violence, and self-harm; initiate safety plans and report according to mandated protocols.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active RN license in the state where services are provided.
• Possess a minimum of 3-5 years of emergency department nursing experience preferred.
• Maintain current certifications: BLS, with ACLS required within 60 days of hire; PALS, TNCC, ENPC, and CEN preferred.
• Demonstrate strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to respond quickly in a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to handle physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and performing procedures like suctioning and troubleshooting airway issues.
