Job Title: Tax Director

Company Profile: Privately owned ~35 - 40 CPA firm in Addison, TX

Hybrid: 2 days in office (Addison, TX)

Compensation: Up to $210k base + bonus + benefits & Partner track

Company Overview

We're a privately owned ~35 - 40 person CPA firm based in North Dallas (Addison, TX) that offers a full suite of accounting services to our clients in DFW market, TX & across the nation.

The founding Partner started back in 2019 - 2020 to build out the leadership group by developing pathway to ownership in the firm, which has been a significant accelerator to the business & now includes 5+ partners in the business.

We're actively looking for a strong Tax Director as an individual on the team is phasing out & relocating out of the market & into more of a part-time/consultant type of capacity sparking up the search.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage tax compliance for individual, corporate, partnership and trust returns across a book of business.
• Oversee and review complex tax returns for compliance with federal, state and local tax regulations.
• Provide high-level tax advisory services, strategic planning and consulting for businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
• Monitor changes in tax law and communicate their effects to clients and the firm.
• Identify tax-saving opportunities and present practical recommendations to clients.
• Collaborate with partners on business development and opportunities to expand services for existing clients.
• Manage, mentor and develop tax staff through training, feedback and professional growth.
• Build and maintain client relationships while serving as a trusted advisor.
• Coordinate and manage IRS and state tax audits, including negotiations and dispute resolution when needed.
• Assist clients with tax notices and correspondence from tax authorities.
• Maintain quality control in tax deliverables and support compliance with established firm policies.
• Lead tax planning and projections for multi-entity and complex business structures.
• Manage the implementation of tax software solutions that improve efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required
• 12 - 20+ years of progressive tax experience, including 5-10 years in a management or leadership role within public accounting.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state and local tax law for individuals, partnerships, corporations and trusts.
• Experience with tax software systems such as CCH Axcess, ProSystem or comparable platforms.
• Excellent leadership, team management, communication and presentation skills.
