Reg Polysomnography Tech-Atlantic Health Sleep Center-Full Time: 7p-7a

Job Description Responsible for measuring electrical activity of patient's brain waves and other physiological variables, using polysomnograph, to aid Physician in diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. Principal Accountabilities Applies surface electrodes to patient’s head and attaches other sensors to record EEG, EMG, EOG, EKG, respiratory effort, and oxygen saturation. Operates closed circuit television camera to observe patient during test. Operates polysomnograph equipment to record physiological data and records notes on graph to eliminate artifact from patient movement. Observes and studies polysomnography to recognize arrhythmias, abnormal respiratory patterns and calls physician or emergency personnel if needed. Measures duration of brain waves on polysomnography using ruler. Analyzes completed tracings and summarizes data showing stages of sleep, abnormal breathing events, periodic leg movements, arrhythmias, etc. Enters data into computer and writes report incorporating patient history, questionnaires, prior and current polysomnography, abnormalities for physician analysis. Performs sleep studies on adult and pediatric patients and may train on pediatrics. Works independently with patients. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Certified or associate degree with emphasis in sleep technology; or completion of sleep technology program at a state licensed or nationally accredited institution and documented proficiency. Certification by a nationally recognized board as Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). BLS certification. State licensure (e.g., NJ State Polysomnographic Technologist license) if applicable. At least two years of polysomnographic technician experience.
