Aquatics Manager (Full-time)

Department / Division : Summer Waves / Operations Status: Regular, Full-time – year round Pay :$17.57 - $20.57 per hour (DOQ) Reports to : Operations Manager Benefits : Full benefits eligible including health insurance, flex benefits, paid time off, paid holidays, parking & amenity pass, and discounts. Retirement: Georgia State Employee Retirement System – GSEPS (Pension + matching 401k) Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager, coordinate the daily aquatic operations, supervise and train lifeguards and attraction guards, and administer the park’s safety program. Responsibilities Recruit, hire, train, direct, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff; complete post‑season reports and employee records. Follow all aquatic procedures in the SOP manual, collaborate with the Operations Manager to update manuals and plan training accordingly. Conduct in‑service training programs (lap swimming, back‑boarding, AED, customer service, slide training, etc.) as per Summer Waves training protocol. Perform opening safety checklist and closing duties, including locking the park. Write daily rotation sheets and maintain break logs for aquatic staff. Ensure the safety of all park guests by patrolling and monitoring swimming areas (slide pools, wave pool, lazy river, and kiddie pool). Enforce safety rules and regulations for all attractions. Respond to emergency situations, rescue distressed persons using rescue techniques and equipment, and provide first aid and emergency response for the park. Review all accident/incident reports and contact management and emergency medical personnel in cases of serious injury. Assist patrons with customer service needs, represent Summer Waves professionally, and address guest comments and complaints appropriately. Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the park and perform light maintenance as assigned by the Operations Manager. Manage water quality for the splash pad in Beach Village and perform off‑season park and attraction maintenance. Perform all other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. At least 18 years old. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a water park or similar facility. Certified as an American Red Cross lifeguard instructor with a water park module or equivalent at the time of hire (or obtained within three months). Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and Water Safety Instructor preferred. Completion of Red Cross Lifeguard Management course upon hire. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and respond effectively during emergencies. Good interpersonal skills for respectful and effective communication. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and willingness to learn other software. Knowledge of OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint preferred. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays. Ability to swim and lift one’s own body/weigh out of the pool. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Crouch, kneel, and/or bend up to half an hour per normal workday. Stand, walk, crouch, climb, kneel, crawl, bend at the waist, or remain prone during emergencies. Work with arms bent up to two‑thirds of the working day and arms extended up to one‑third of the day; extended arm use may occur for longer during emergencies. Push and pull with arms up to two pounds for half an hour per day; may require >50 pounds during emergencies. Twist and rotate arms during emergencies. Lift and carry emergency equipment up to seventy pounds during emergencies. Grasp and manipulate objects, perform fine finger dexterity work up to one‑third of the day, and potentially faster movements during emergencies. Work outdoors under extreme temperatures or humid conditions, on inclines, ramps, stairs, ladders, on wet or dry surfaces. Come under noisy or hazardous environmental exposure, including chemicals, exhaust or fumes. Work with directional instructions, with one or two persons, or within a large group.
