Geospatial Analyst

Overview Geospatial Analyst is an entry‑level full‑time position with career progression opportunities. The role is assigned to infrastructure survey projects and office support assignments within the United States with the possibility of occasional OCONUS travel. Assignments range from several days to several months depending on the size of the project. 100% travel should be expected. Geospatial Analysts proficient in ESRI’s ArcGIS suite of products must have a good understanding of cartography, map reading, geospatial database creation and design, and methods of geospatial data development and data management. The preferred candidate will also have the ability to enter the field to support survey efforts and data collection. This may include serving on field teams supporting wetland delineations, utility infrastructure assessment, real property assessments and mapping, the collection of GPS data, developing and utilizing tools for data entry and analysis, and supporting impact assessments, figure development, and other needs related to project review and permitting. Job Description and Responsibilities Use GIS to support various missions on military installations throughout the United States and abroad Utilize GPS and other tools to locate and map utilities and infrastructure Process field data and ensure that it meets predetermined accuracy standards Maintain a high level of productivity Perform analysis on geospatial information and create concise reports or maps displaying the results of the analysis Interact with various military and civilian customers in a professional manner Requirements – Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Tech savvy and always on the lookout for ways to improve our products and processes Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office Physically able to walk or stand for more than 6 hours per day Ability to travel up to 100% in a given week/month Solid proficiency in ArcGIS. CAD experience is desired, but not required Excellent written, verbal, and customer service skills Experience with mapping and survey‑grade GPS systems is a plus Bachelor's in related field and 0–3 years of experience is desired The ability to read engineering plans and interpret aerial imagery The ability to work effectively and efficiently for extended periods of time with little to no guidance or direct supervision Exposure to database design, visualization technologies, and modeling and simulation Knowledge of data collection principles and practices, and experience deploying or operating mobile GIS solutions, including GPS units with ArcPad and Trimble GPS Analyst Strong written and oral communication skills and a solid understanding of cartographic principles US Citizenship required Up to 100% Travel Work Location Florence, AL and Huntsville, AL Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must possess sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties efficiently. May include lifting weights up to 50 pounds as necessary. Optional: physically able to walk or stand for more than 6 hours per day.
