12R Interior Electrician

Overview As overseers of electricity, Interior Electricians are valuable to the operations of the Army National Guard. They are the soldiers who light the way for their crews by installing and repairing wire systems in offices, repair shops, airplane hangars, and other buildings. Responsibilities As an Interior Electrician, you will install and wire electrical hardware such as transformers, junction boxes, service panels, electrical boxes, switches, and circuit breakers. You must read blueprints and wiring plans, use trade tools, and ensure safety of electrical work using test meters. Job Duties include: Inspect power distribution systems, detect shorts in wires, and identify faulty equipment. Training & Experience After 10 weeks of Basic Training and seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), you will develop skills to become an advanced electrician: supervising other soldiers, coordinating, and planning electrical layout.
