Founding Engineer San Francisco, CA Full-time Hybrid About Shelby Shelby is on a mission to eliminate the friction of relocation for startups and their new hires. Finding a home in a competitive market like the Bay Area is stressful and time‑consuming. We are a tech-enabled service that manages the entire relocation process, from housing search to move-in, allowing new hires to be productive from day one. What You'll Do Design and build the core technology that powers our managed relocation service. Develop internal tools for our Relocation Coordinators and external-facing dashboards for clients (HR) and their employees. Work across the full stack, from front-end UI/UX to back-end architecture and database management. Collaborate directly with the founder to define product strategy and the engineering roadmap. Establish engineering best practices, from coding standards and testing to CI/CD and infrastructure. What We're Looking For 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong portfolio of web applications you've built. Proficiency in modern web technologies (e.g., React/Vue/Svelte, Node.js, Python/Django, etc.). We value strong fundamentals over specific framework experience. A product-mind approach. You care about the "why" behind what you're building and can contribute to product decisions. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Strong communication skills and a desire to be part of a small, collaborative team. Bonus: Experience with real estate tech, B2B SaaS products, or building internal operational tools.
