Recruitment Number 26-0159 The immediate vacancies are temporary full-time and permanent full-time positions located in Downtown with the following departments: Department of Accounting & General Services Department of Budget & Finance Department of Labor & Industrial Relations Salary Level I - $4,368 per month (SR-16, Step D) Level II - $4,725 per month (SR-18, Step D) Employees appointed to temporary positions may also gain membership in the civil service upon satisfactory completion of an initial probation period of at least six months. Level I Receives training and assists in a trainee capacity in activities pertaining to professional accounting work and performs other duties as required. This class involves assignments designed to provide experience in the practical application of accounting principles, procedures, and techniques, and familiarity with the nature and structure of the particular accounting system. Assignments are part of a planned, organized training program and are characterized by detailed instructions and close review. Level II Is an advanced trainee and performs a variety of assignments ranging from the simple to moderately difficult which do not require the services of a fully trained accountant, and performs other related duties as assigned. As an advanced trainee, the incumbent advances as part of their progression to full performance as an independent worker. This class is required to apply knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and practices in carrying out assignments. Basic Education A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university with at least 12 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects for both levels. Accounting Experience Accountant I: None required. Accountant II: Six (6) months of progressively responsible professional accounting or auditing experience which may have included teaching accounting at the university level.
