Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Role Overview: The Senior Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department provides expert patient care, utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate individual care plans. They coordinate care focused on specific patient populations or conditions, ensuring safe transitions and minimal complications. They may serve as a Charge Nurse, preceptor, or trainer, contributing to staff development and departmental improvements. Key Responsibilities Assess and monitor patients, recognizing changes in condition and responding appropriately. Administer medications, manage IV access, perform Point of Care testing, and provide emergency resuscitation. Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with policies, laws, and standards. Collaborate with healthcare team members, delegate tasks, and provide direction to non-nursing staff. Educate patients and families, serve as a resource, and promote patient-centered care. Participate in continuous education, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary committees. Maintain licensure and certifications, including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and trauma courses. Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Qualifications & Skills Graduate of an accredited nursing program. At least 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a high-acuity emergency setting. Valid Texas RN license or equivalent, with current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and trauma certifications. Knowledge of nursing standards, infection control, safety protocols, and emergency procedures. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
