Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period, including fetal monitoring, newborn care, and emergency response.
• Perform thorough patient assessments, develop individualized plans of care, and implement and evaluate nursing interventions across the lifespan.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policy; recognize and respond to changes in patient condition with appropriate interventions or escalation of care.
• Collaborate with providers, neonatal teams, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate care and promote safe outcomes for both mother and newborn.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic health record.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement activities; maintain required competencies, certifications, and compliance with regulatory and infection prevention standards. On-call may be required.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska required at time of submission.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are all required.
• Flu vaccination required (must have or obtain prior to start).
• ICPA background check required; fingerprint cards must arrive in Juneau within one week of accepting an offer. ICPA processing time is approximately 3–5 weeks after cards are received — clearance to start may be delayed if receipt of fingerprint cards is delayed.
• High-risk competency validation required within 3 months of start and annually thereafter; clinical competency validation required within 3 months and every 3 years.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in Labor & Delivery or obstetric nursing in a critical access or community hospital setting.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems used in acute care environments.
• Experience providing culturally responsive, patient-centered care in diverse or underserved communities.
