Reno Staffing is looking for a blender/mixer for an Organic tea manufacturer in the Sparks area!

This position is temp to hire for the right candidate. All candidates must follow good manufacturing practices and all necessary food safety guidelines to be successful in this role.

Shift:  Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.  
Pay: $16.00/hr.
Location: Sparks, NV. (Greg and Spice Island)

Summary:   

Responsibilities include organizing freight in warehouse, organic record keeping, blending of tea blends and ability to interpret recipe ingredients. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned.

• Understand origin of teas, herbs and spices and various suppliers of ingredients.
• Understand various grades (dust, TBC, C/S, Whole, Powder etc.) of ingredients. 
• Follow blending procedures: 
• Pull ingredients from WIP (work in progress) area only.
• Only pull ingredients from rack when needed while documenting the rack inventory sheet. 
• Blend accurately using appropriate recipes for teabags, loose teas and iced teas AND private label. 
• Inform Management of any recipe changes or recipe errors. 
• Create samples of new blends as requested for new flavor development.
• Create samples for tasting of all existing blends after each recipe is blended. 
• Book Keeping:
• Understand lot coding requirements.
• Maintain active blending book per ingredient lot code for all customers. 
• Archive completed blend recipes in Archive Binder. 
• Lock Away/Store recipe book in cabinet after each day’s use to protect intellectual property.
• Develop and maintain WIP area for ingredients (TBC and Bulk) based on recurring blending needs. 
• Proactively discuss/inform management of ingredient requirements. 
• Help production workers with case, barrel or ingredient requirement for orders. 
• Conduct departmental work such as quality, sanitation, cleanliness and productivity tasks. 
• Training:
  1. Understanding TBC and Bulk Ingredients, and comparing
  2. Flavors (dry/liquid, organic/conventional, customer)
  3. Understanding TBC and Bulk Recipe (reading and entering)
  4. Various Private Label Recipes
  5. Recipe Book Management (Master, Active, Archive)
  6. Receiving, PS and lot coding procedures
  7. Ingredient Inventory Storage on Rack and Sample Storage Procedures
  8. Ingredient Approval Procedure (sample vs. shipment)
  9. Milling/Sifting Procedures
  10. Rework Procedures
  11. Blending (TBC vs. Bulk)

Competency: 
To perform the job successfully, an individual should the following requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to manage multiple tasks 
• Ability to lift 50 to 100 lbs. repeatedly during shift.
• Effective communicator with strong analytical and mathematical skills;
• Ability to work independently and in a team, self motivated and results oriented;
• Work in an environment that is dusty and be able to work on feet for duration of shift
• Regular stooping, kneeling, climbing, bending at the waist, reaching, handling, fingering

A resume or work history with relevant experience is required for consideration, interview and drug test not testing for THC required upon offer acceptance.
