Process Control & Automation Engineer (BMS/HVAC)

Lilly is currently constructing an advanced manufacturing facility for production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) molecules located in Lebanon, Indiana, USA. This facility is Lilly’s largest investment in manufacturing capacity and is intended to provide APIs for current and future products. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the team for the startup of a greenfield manufacturing site, and the successful candidate will help to build the organization, the facility, and the culture to enable a successful startup into GMP manufacturing operations. The Process Control and Automation Engineer (PCAE‑BMS/HVAC) is the professional, responsible for the development, implementation, improvement, verification, and qualification of Building Management and HVAC Control Automation solutions for the Lebanon API Manufacturing site (LP1). These responsibilities include all activities necessary to support the automation solutions deployed to production, as well as area‑engineering initiatives including commissioning, qualification, process improvements, solution enhancements and troubleshooting. Responsibilities Managing and implementation of applications (HW/SW) upgrades and updates, including creation and modification of control strategies and data collection models. Supporting the validation and qualification or verification of deliverables. Maintaining up‑to‑date documentation package for the applications. Working safely and following all HSE standards. Performing activities in accordance with GMPs and applicable procedures. Staying tightly aligned and actively involved with the process team as a participating member. Understanding process team issues, priorities, and objectives. Responding to and implementing process team decisions. Developing system requirements and designs. Managing and developing code in a GMP‑compliant manner. Delivering projects on time. Executing changes and resolving issues to keep systems up‑to‑date, reliable and compliant. Appropriately prioritizing activities to maximize overall impact on the business. Understanding and following GMP concepts and compliance to influence development of procedures. Providing input for continuous improvement efforts to improve equipment reliability. Performing other tasks assigned by the supervisor. Basic Requirements Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer sciences, or related fields. 5+ years of experience as a BMS/HVAC Controls automation engineer (JCI, Honeywell, Siemens, Andover). 3+ years of Computer System Validation Experience. 3+ years of Computers Systems & Software Platforms administration. Additional Skills/Preferences Adequate interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a team‑based environment. Willingness to learn about other areas outside of automation. Desire to develop expertise in production processes, equipment‑specific code and control system technologies (Software/Hardware and field instrumentation). Automation and Information Technology certifications considered a plus (PAE, PCAE, CAN, CNE, VMP, etc). Professional Engineering License considered a plus. Experience with Rockwell Software/Hardware Suite: Control Studio 5000, Logix, Factory Talk SE/ME/Asset Center, Historian Aveva Pi Software Suites: Pi Historian, PI Vision, Event Frameworks, Logmate; and IT platform support including server administration, health monitoring, LAN/Network support, troubleshooting, and virtual hardware setup and administration. The anticipated wage for this position is $66,000 - $171,600. Full‑time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
