Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an Operating Room (OR) Nurse for a position located in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized surgical nursing care in a Level I trauma center, supporting a variety of service lines excluding cardiovascular. The OR Nurse will be responsible for assisting in a broad range of surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, and adhering to facility protocols.

Job Details:

• Position / Specialty: Operating Room
• Shift: 4x10-hour days, from 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM (10 hours per shift)
• Start Date: 08/03/2026
• Location: Springfield, IL 62781
• Schedule: 40 hours per week, with a minimum of 1 weekend shift per month
• Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Nursing, active Illinois nursing license, minimum 3 years of operating room experience, BLS certification required, CNOR certification preferred
• Experience Requirements: General OR experience, trauma experience, laparoscopic-assisted procedures, and specialty surgical skills such as neurology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, transplant, and urology are required
• Additional Experience/Skills: Experience with Cerner charting system and general surgical techniques including laparoscopic, open, and trauma procedures
• On-Call: Yes, approximately 1 week per month; on-call shifts count as shifts worked
• Float Policy: Float within skill set may be required rarely, subject to unit needs
• Special Requirements: Experience with Level I trauma cases, bariatric laparoscopic procedures, and sterile techniques; familiarity with electrosurgical units, Hana tables, and microvascular free flap procedures
• Certifications: BLS required; CNOR preferred
• Facility & Patient Care Details:
  • Type of Facility: Acute Care Hospital, Level I trauma center
  • Total Staffed Beds: 562
  • Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
  • Special Procedures: Including general, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and urology cases, excluding cardiovascular service lines
  • Other: Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, respiratory, radiology, and pharmacy services
  • Equipment/Instrumentation: Electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana tables, Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Mazor Robot
• Compliance & Submittal Requirements:
  • Active Illinois license in hand or in application process at time of submission
  • Candidate must be pre-closed at time of submission, with confirmed interview availability windows
  • Submission must include verification of certifications, background clearances, and compliance documentation
  • Travel and housing arrangements must be reviewed and secured prior to submission
  • Full SSN and DOB are required at time of submission
  • Candidate must be willing to work two of the three major holidays
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
