Forvia, a sustainable mobility technology leaderWe pioneer technology for mobility experience that matter to people.Your mission, roles and responsibilitiesThe Customs & Tariff Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing U.S. customs compliance, tariff programs, trade regulations, and duty recovery initiatives across North American operations. This position serves as a key subject matter expert on customs regulations, tariff mitigation strategies, OEM tariff credit programs, and government compliance requirements.The role will be part of Customs NAO organization and will work closely with business units, external brokers, legal counsel, customers, and government agencies to ensure regulatory compliance, maximize tariff recovery opportunities, minimize financial exposure, and support strategic trade initiatives.Customs Compliance & Regulatory MonitoringResearch, interpret, and communicate U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, trade laws, Presidential Proclamations, CSMS announcements, and other regulatory developments impacting import and export operations.Ensure compliance with all applicable customs, trade, and government regulations.Monitor regulatory changes and assess their operational and financial impact on the organization as part of the Customs NAO teamTariff Management & MitigationAnalyze the financial exposure associated with U.S. tariffs, duties, and trade actions, including Section 232, Section 301, Section 122, IEEPA, and other trade measures.Identify, evaluate, and implement tariff mitigation opportunities in collaboration with Trade Compliance team, Legal, Finance, external consultants, and business leaders.Develop proactive strategies to reduce tariff costs while maintaining full regulatory compliance.Monitor tariff program performance, utilization thresholds, and recovery opportunities while identifying risks related to claw backs, underutilization, or unrecoverable duties.OEM Tariff Credit & Offset ProgramsLead OEM tariff credit and tariff offset programs in collaboration with the North American Customs team.Deal with customer onboarding activities and submission processes for tariff recovery programs.Oversee recurring monthly reporting and reconciliation cycles with customer-appointed third-party administrators.Support customer audits and inquiries related to tariff recoveries, credit utilization, classifications, and refund programsTariff Refund ManagementSupport the control and follow up the complete lifecycle of tariff refund programs, including IEEPA, CAPE, and other applicable recovery mechanisms.Validate claims and supporting documentation supported and being Customs team member.Track refund status and recovery activities.Maintain proper documentation to support audits, customer reviews, and regulatory inquiries.Drive continuous improvement of customs data integrity and governance processes.Your profile and competencies to succeedEducationBachelor's Degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Finance, Law, or related field.Experience5+ years of experience in U.S. Customs Compliance, Trade Compliance, Global Trade Management, or International Logistics.Experience managing tariff programs.Strong understanding of:CBP regulationsHTS classificationCustoms valuationCountry of Origin rulesSection 232, Section 301, Section 122, and IEEPA tariffsTrade remedy programs and duty recovery mechanismsPreferred QualificationsLicensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred.USMCA certification and trade agreement experience.Experience supporting automotive OEM customers and supplier reimbursement programs.Knowledge of duty drawback, foreign trade zones, and tariff recovery programs.Experience in a multinational manufacturing environment.What we can do for youAt Forvia, you will find an engaging and dynamic environment where you can contribute to the development of sustainable mobility leading technologies.We are the seventh-largest global automotive supplier, employing more than 157,000 people in more than 40 countries which makes a lot of opportunity for career development.We welcome energetic and agile people who can thrive in a fast-changing environment.
