Job Summary The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Coordinator of Nationally Competitive Scholarships. The Coordinator of Nationally Competitive Scholarships plays a pivotal role in identifying, mentoring, and supporting UNG students interested in applying for major awards. To do so, the Coordinator leads strategic recruitment and provides individual advising to students primarily on the Dahlonega campuses, with monthly outreach to the Blue Ridge and Cumming campuses. In addition, the Coordinator contributes to and supports recruitment and advising strategies on the other campuses through collaboration with NCS staff there. The Coordinator also leads targeted scholarship writing workshops, manages NCS Faculty Fellows and student workers, and stays abreast of trends in the national scholarships landscape. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean of Honors and as such will also support other offices of the Ascend Centers on these campuses (the Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities, McNair, Honors Program) as needed. Must be willing to work on multiple campuses as the need arises. This position will require some after hours and weekend events. Responsibilities Develop recruitment initiatives to identify and support scholarship applicants. Organize and run targeted writing workshops. Lead information sessions on national scholarship opportunities. Participate in outreach activities to promote scholarships and undergraduate research. Stay abreast of application requirements, best practices, deadlines, etc. Meet with students both one‑on‑one and via group sessions to discuss available and appropriate scholarship and undergraduate research opportunities. Provide detailed written and verbal feedback on personal statements and other application components. Lead on‑campus selection processes for scholarships requiring institutional nomination. Serve on the internal scholarship selection panels as requested. Maintain strong working knowledge of current scholarship opportunities. Manage student workers and faculty fellows who assist in scholarships process. Assist in maintenance of comprehensive publicity plan for communicating scholarship and undergraduate research results to wider campus audience. Maintain and update databases of winners/applicants and NCS alumni; assist in compiling analyses and reports. Support and fill in for other initiatives spearheaded by the Ascend Centers including CURCA, McNair and Honors. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Candidate must demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills and the ability to work closely with undergraduates. Must be able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrate attention to detail, exhibit excellent customer service. Three years related experience with either national scholarships, advising, grant writing, tutoring or mentoring. Valid Class driver's license is required. Preferred Qualifications Master's or PhD preferred Experience in international settings and/or with diverse groups of students preferred.
