Staff Accountant Full Time - Wheeling, WV, US The Staff Accountant’s primary responsibility is to assist in day-to-day accounting functions and maintenance of financial records. This includes preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing monthly financial statements, and reviewing transactions in a timely and accurate manner. The role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. Responsibilities Prepare journal entries and accompanying support. Prepare and reconcile monthly bank and account statements. Reconcile bank accounts associated with claims and third‑party administrative services. Assist with audit preparations. Maintain fixed asset register, including depreciation, additions, disposals, and gains/losses on sale. Process external commissions and statements on a monthly basis. Ensure timely completion of multi‑state regulatory filings and deadlines. Assist treasury with daily/weekly cash‑flow forecast schedules. Provide financial operation support/backup to the CDS division. Perform additional tasks and undertake specific projects as assigned to support Senior Accountants. Required Qualifications Experience with monthly financial statement preparations and general accounting. Proficient computer, analytical, organizational, and customer service skills. Experience with spreadsheets and word processing. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Desired Qualifications One to two years of accounting experience preferred.
