As a VA physician, you'll serve those who have served, making a lasting difference in the Honolulu Veteran community. *Position Overview* As a Gastroenterologist at Honolulu VA, you will provide comprehensive GI care, leveraging a fully integrated electronic health record and working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. *Key Duties and Responsibilities:* * Provide outpatient and inpatient consultative gastroenterology care for a diverse panel of Veterans * Perform and interpret endoscopic procedures, including EGD, colonoscopy, and advanced interventions as credentialed * Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad range of digestive and liver diseases using evidence-based practices * Prescribe medications, order/interpret labs and imaging, and initiate consults to related specialties * Participate in the GI call schedule with shared after-hours and weekend responsibilities as negotiated * Collaborate with primary care, surgery, pathology, radiology, nursing, and specialty services for coordinated Veteran care * Educate, supervise, and mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and advanced practice providers * Participate in peer review, quality improvement initiatives, multidisciplinary meetings, and system redesign * Maintain timely, thorough clinical documentation in accordance with VA standards * Provide telehealth care as appropriate to improve access for Hawaii and Pacific Islands Veterans * Complete other duties as assigned by Chief of Gastroenterology or facility leadership *Achieve True Work-Life Harmony* * Predictable scheduling and minimal on-call requirements * Generous paid time off: 26 vacation days, 13 sick days, 11 paid federal holidays, and up to 5 CME days annually * Flexible administrative support and robust clinical resources *Exceptional Benefits & Retirement Plans* * Competitive salary: $340,000-$400,000 per year * Performance & recruitment bonuses, annual cost-of-living increases * *Health Insurance:* Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, prescription plans (Day 1 eligibility) * *Retirement Packages:* * *Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS):* Government pension plan * *Thrift Savings Plan (TSP):* Personal retirement savings with up to 5% VA matching (distinct from pension) * *Social Security benefits* * *Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP):* Up to $200,000 in tax-free loan repayment over five years (eligibility/location dependent) * *Malpractice coverage:* Free, including tail coverage * *Continuing Medical Education (CME):* Financial support and up to 5 CME days per year *Enjoy an Exceptional Quality of Life in Honolulu* Live and work in Honolulu, a tropical metropolitan city renowned for its beautiful beaches, multicultural community, top-rated schools, and access to year-round outdoor activities.
