Senior Compensation Analyst

The Sr. Compensation Analyst is a key role within the JD North America People Regional Business Services model. The Regional Business Services function supports all US businesses within the JD Group. This position designs, analyzes, and administers compensation programs to ensure they are competitive, equitable, and aligned with the organization’s business strategy. Responsibilities Execute the organization’s compensation philosophy and architecture, including creation and maintenance of job profiles, grading, market pricing, FLSA analysis, and pay recommendations. Ensure pay programs are competitive, equitable, and fiscally responsible. Review and approve proposed salary actions to ensure conformance with established guidelines, policies, and compensation philosophy. Administer ad‑hoc and recurring incentive program processes such as bonuses, merit and market adjustments, allowances, and minimum wage. Plan and update compensation program guidelines, tools, and system testing; prepare communication materials; collaborate with business leaders and People department members. Audit, report, and personally contact stakeholders to confirm that compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations. Aid in wage forecasting, providing data and reporting for accruals and other budget‑critical items. Participate in salary surveys and collect/analyze salary information to determine competitive market positioning. Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to establish competitive compensation ranges. Work with People/HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, hiring managers, and business leaders to evaluate new positions and provide benchmarking recommendations. Conduct equity reviews and drive the overall compensation strategy for competitive pay, equity, and pay‑for‑performance. Support preparation of presentations and data analysis for senior leadership meetings, such as the Compensation Committee. Assist with ad‑hoc and annual analytical projects, identifying key themes and highlighting opportunities and metrics for broader strategy objectives. Leverage system functionality and optimize capabilities within Workday’s compensation modules. Analyze data and processes to provide suggestions for enhancing current plans and programs. Deliver defined KPIs and SLAs accurately and on time, working with a continuous‑improvement mindset to increase efficiency and automate processes. Stay knowledgeable about compensation trends and strategies and innovate to improve the organization’s compensation programs. Play a formal or informal leadership role in supervising team members, including training, development, reviewing work, and directing tasks. Perform other projects and duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 4–6 years of compensation experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in retail or a high‑volume industry is a plus, as is experience in data analytics. Leadership experience is a plus, but not required. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel. Experience with Workday is a plus; general knowledge of HR systems, compensation tools, and BI reporting tools is required. Certifications related to the compensation field are a plus. Internal JD Group experience is always a plus. Physical Demands Sitting for more than 6 hours per shift; using hands to touch, handle, feel, and type; reaching with hands and arms; talking and/or hearing; walking or moving from one location to another; periodically climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching; lifting or moving from 10 pounds occasionally. Work Hours and Travel The average work week is 40–50 hours, with possible variations depending on business needs. Travel may be required occasionally, likely no more than 10% of the time.
