Job Description Job Description Labor On Demand has openings for Assembly Technician - Transformers Location: San Antonio TX 78218 Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm Compensation: $16/hr Job Summary The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling custom and prototype transformers in an industrial production environment. Working as part of a team of approximately 6–10 employees and reporting directly to the Production Manager, this position performs mechanical assembly using hand and power tools while following established production procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements. This is a hands-on, physically active position performed primarily in an outdoor/open-shop environment . Employees must be prepared to work in changing weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, as well as a dusty and dirty industrial environment . The position generally works a standard day shift; however, overtime may be required based on production demands. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assemble custom and prototype transformers according to established specifications, procedures, and production requirements. Perform mechanical assembly and installation of transformer components and related materials. Safely operate a variety of hand tools, including wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, and similar equipment. Safely operate power tools and other production equipment required for transformer assembly. Read and follow work instructions, assembly procedures, specifications, and supervisor directions. Measure, position, align, secure, and install components accurately. Inspect components and completed work for proper fit, alignment, workmanship, and overall quality. Identify damaged, defective, incorrect, or missing components and report concerns to supervision. Follow established quality-control procedures throughout the assembly process. Perform basic preventive maintenance and inspections of tools and equipment. Maintain tools and equipment in safe and proper working condition. Handle, organize, and maintain materials and inventory needed for production. Move materials, parts, tools, and equipment to designated production areas as required. Maintain a clean and organized work area and remove debris and unnecessary materials that could create safety hazards. Work collaboratively with a production team of approximately 6–10 employees to meet daily production requirements. Communicate effectively with team members, leads, supervisors, and management regarding production or quality concerns. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and required PPE standards. Maintain productivity and quality while working within established production schedules. Work overtime when required to meet production demands. Perform additional assembly, production, material-handling, or related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Must meet any client-specific background check, drug screening, identification, or site-access requirements. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Must demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality. Previous experience in assembly, manufacturing, production, mechanical work, construction, industrial labor, or a similar hands-on environment. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn transformer assembly procedures. Ability to safely operate common hand tools. Ability to safely use power tools and production equipment after appropriate training. Ability to follow detailed assembly procedures and established production processes. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Ability and willingness to work in an outdoor/open-shop environment with exposure to heat, cold, dust, dirt, and changing weather conditions . Ability to follow all safety rules and wear required PPE. Ability to work overtime when required by production needs. Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of previous assembly experience , preferably in manufacturing, transformer production, electrical equipment, industrial equipment, or a related environment. Experience with mechanical assembly. Strong proficiency using hand and power tools. Previous experience assembling transformers, electrical equipment, industrial machinery, or similar products. Experience working with custom or prototype products. Previous manufacturing or industrial production experience. Knowledge of quality-control procedures and inspection practices. Previous experience working under established production and safety standards. Experience handling production materials and inventory. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift. Frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull. Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements associated with assembly work. Use hand and power tools for extended periods. Grip, grasp, position, manipulate, and assemble transformer components and production materials. Lift, carry, position, and move parts, tools, materials, and equipment as required by the assignment. Maintain sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to perform detailed mechanical assembly. Work around large transformers, industrial equipment, machinery, and production materials. Safely navigate uneven, dusty, and potentially slippery industrial work surfaces. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the workday. Perform physically demanding work for extended periods in changing environmental conditions. Work Environment This position is performed primarily in an outdoor/open industrial shop environment and is not a climate-controlled setting . Employees should expect regular exposure to: Extreme heat during warmer months Cold temperatures during colder months Large amounts of dust and airborne particles Dirt, grease, oil, and other materials commonly found in an industrial manufacturing environment Loud machinery, power tools, and production noise Large transformers and heavy industrial equipment Moving equipment and material-handling activities Changing outdoor weather and temperature conditions Physically demanding production work Employees should expect to get dirty while performing this job . Appropriate work clothing and all required PPE must be worn. The Assembly Technician must remain safety-conscious at all times and be able to maintain productivity, accuracy, and attention to detail while working in hot, cold, dusty, noisy, and physically demanding conditions.
