District Office Intern

BASIC FUNCTIONS:
In a learner capacity and under the direct supervision of the Santa Cruz District Office Staff, the District Intern will be responsible for general office duties including monitoring and responding to the public inbox for the Senator. Applicants must be organized, detailed, and able to work well with others.



DUTIES:
Interns will be able to work in a fast-paced, professional environment and assist with constituent services and casework as needed. They will also be able to attend events and participate in stakeholder meetings alongside staff.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong oral and written communication skills are essential in addition to proficiency with Microsoft Office and PCs. Familiarity with legislative culture and process is preferred.



LOCATION, SALARY AND FILING DATE:
This position is located in Santa Cruz, CA and requires in person attendance .
The Senate's core business hours are 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, with the option of up to 35 hours per week depending on office needs and availability.
Interns hired to work full-time or 35 hours per week, must conclude their internship in three months or less.
All paid internships must conclude within six months, unless the intern is working less than half-time (17 hours per week).
Salary is $21 per hour.
No benefits provided with this classification.
