The Goodwill of Colorado Excel Center is a tuition-free, diploma-granting high school designed for adults over 22 years of age who were unable to complete their high school education due to life circumstances. The Director I, Adult High School provides an entrepreneurial and hands-on approach to directing, planning, managing, and coordinating the educational goals and vision of the school. The Director meets desired outcomes in operations, curriculum, personnel management, and development, per the principles of the Excel Center. Accountability is measured both internally and externally by State and local standards. The Director supervises faculty, creates and maintains a safe and secure educational environment for staff/students, and manages the fiscal activities of the school. The position works closely with the leadership of Goodwill of Colorado’s Community Impact Division (CID) to implement a strategic plan within a fast-paced, high-change environment. This is a full-time, year-round, in-person position at our school located in Aurora, CO. Incumbent must reside in Colorado and work from the Aurora facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
High Culture of Achievement: Instill a culture of high expectations, academic excellence, and personal growth among students, teachers, and staff. Develop strategies to motivate and inspire students to reach their full potential. Foster a supportive environment that celebrates achievements and recognizes individual and collective efforts. Implement data-driven approaches to assess student performance and implement targeted interventions for improvement. Enrollment and Retention Focus: Develop and execute effective enrollment strategies to attract and enroll students who align with the school's mission and values. Continuous marketing is required to increase student interest and enrollment; work closely with the Marketing department and the marketing team of the National Excel office to create compelling campaigns that highlight the school’s unique offerings. Implement retention strategies to ensure long-term engagement and satisfaction of students and families. Build strong relationships with adult students, addressing their concerns and maintaining open lines of communication. Operational Excellence: Demonstrate a commitment to operational excellence in all aspects of school management. Develop and implement efficient systems and processes that optimize resources, budgeting, and scheduling. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures. Continuously assess and improve operational efficiency to enhance the overall effectiveness of the school. Independent and Entrepreneurial: Thrive in a start-up environment and embrace an entrepreneurial mindset. Demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and resourcefulness in navigating challenges and finding creative solutions. Exhibit a proactive and determined approach to achieving goals and overcoming challenges. Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and improvement within the school. Take initiative in implementing new initiatives, programs, and partnerships that enhance the educational experience. Encourage and support teachers and staff in embracing an entrepreneurial mindset and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Collaborate with stakeholders and the community, to establish a strong network of support. Recognize the demands of a start-up environment and be available beyond traditional working hours. Embrace the flexibility required to address urgent matters, attend school events, and support staff, and students as needed. Budgeting and Compliance: Work closely with the Education and Training Director to monitor monthly budgets to drive conclusions about students, staffing, and the building. Forecasts future needs and expenses to manage monthly and yearly budgets. Ensure all State and central office reporting requirements are completed in a timely manner. Follow central office procedures and requirements for various school functions. Maintain compliance with all legal, regulatory, and authorized obligations of a school leader and special populations to ensure all students are being served. Staffing, Evaluation, and Development: Build an effective Excel Center team by promoting job opportunities, establishing a prospect network, interviewing applicants, and selecting qualified candidates for position openings. Utilizes staff evaluation and staff input to identify strengths and areas of improvement. Implements professional development, training, goal setting, and succession plans for all staff throughout the school year.QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: A Bachelors Degree in Education or related field is required; A Masters Degree in Education or related field is preferred. Colorado Teaching certificate is preferred but not required. Experience: 3+ years in a school-related leadership role. Other: Displays a working knowledge of the Colorado Academic Standards, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Skills and knowledge of disciplinary literacy. Leads, develops, and gets results for a team, department, and organization through qualities of integrity, accountability, empathy, humility, resilience, vision, influence, and positivity, ideally in a school leadership role managing professionals. Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend others' needs. Deliver information in person, in writing, and in a digital world. Must have the ability to network with community partners and speak to large audiences. Bilingual abilities are a plus. Plans and attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing multiple tasks in an organized and timely fashion. Exhibits careful attention to detail and follow-through. Has working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office, as well as Student Information Systems (SIS). Identifies and comprehends issues, problems, and opportunities; compares data from different sources to draw conclusions; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences. Creates, collects, reviews, and maintains information to manage or improve the achievement of learning goals. Maintains effectiveness when experiencing shifts in priorities; Adjusts effectively while maintaining a positive learning environment. The incumbent will be required and must have the ability to drive for company business*. *Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements: For applicants/employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, or for purpose of receiving company mileage reimbursement they must be at least: 21 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation), 25 – 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services, 25 years of age for CDL.
