Lead Welder

POSITION SUMMARY: DEVON Industries is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Welder to serve as the backbone of our welding team. In this role, you will perform hands‑on welding operations while taking ownership of team direction, workflow, and quality within the welding department. The Lead Welder leads by example and setting the standard for craftsmanship, safety, and professionalism while working with teammates to ensure every job gets done right. This is a collaborative role for someone who takes pride not only in their own work, but in the success of the team around them. This is an hourly position based out of the OKC metro area and reports to the Production Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs welding operations to join components constructed from steel, titanium, and other metals in accordance with job specifications and quality standard Welds small components and large ones for catwalks, pans, decking, dispensers, boards, shelves, etc. Set up welding equipment, fixtures, and positioners for production runs. Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications. Lead, mentor, and provide day‑to‑day direction to a team of welders. Assign tasks and monitor progress to ensure production schedules are met. Train new team members on welding techniques, equipment operation, and company procedures. Serve as the primary point of escalation for technical welding questions on the floor. Communicate production status, issues, and team performance updates to the Production Manager. Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications: 5+ years of hands‑on welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Proficiency in MIG welding; TIG and stick welding experience strongly preferred. 90% of work is performed in an indoor semi‑climate-controlled warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires the Team Member to regularly standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
