Automation Engineer

Salary: $73,000 - 113,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable technical background
• 2+ years of PLC programming experience, ideally with Siemens and Allen-Bradley systems
• 3–5 years of electrical engineering experience
• Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation drawings
• Proficiency with standard office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and Access
• Strong AutoCAD skills for creating and updating drawings
• Working knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel Codes, boilers, heat transfer equipment, or auxiliary boiler room equipment is preferred
• Experience in the boiler industry is an advantage

• Design electrical control systems and evaluate existing control systems across our product lines, including industrial, electrode, and electric boilers
• Support field technicians with commissioning at customer sites
• Create schematic wiring diagrams using the latest AutoCAD tools
• Develop PLC programs for boilers and burners
• Select components that align with customer specifications and code requirements
• Ensure products comply with applicable NEC, NFPA, UL, and CSA standards
• Assist customers and service technicians with remote and on-site troubleshooting of control systems and PLC logic
• Carry out repairs as needed
• Prepare technical documentation and operating instructions for electrical control systems and PLC logic
• Collaborate with other departments to support new product development, service inquiries, purchasing alternatives or deviations, and manufacturing improvements
• Mentor and train field service staff as well as less experienced electrical designers and programmers
• Travel to customer sites, with travel levels varying by need and possibly including international trips
