Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of EPIC experience required License: Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required Description: Located in the heart of the community, this facility has been a leading healthcare provider for over a century. The facility comprises a hospital and various health services throughout the area. The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated shift. Nursing care is prescribed based on the nursing process, which is consistent with the medical plan of care. Collaboration with physicians and other health care team members is essential. The delivery of patient care is coordinated for patients of any age. Teaching and discharge planning needs are incorporated in the overall plan of care. Certain aspects of patient care delivery are delegated to other nursing staff based on their clinical competence and legal scope of practice. Education and Work Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Experience in an acute care facility is preferred. Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required at the time of hire. Demonstrated competency in Dysrhythmia during Orientation is required. Completion of Critical Care Course within one year of hire and demonstrated competency in IV Sedation within six months of hire for Critical Care Units is required. Neonatal Resuscitation and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications are required within specified timeframes for the Labor & Delivery department. Essential Functions: Utilizes the nursing process to assess patients, design and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan. Modifications to the care plan are made as necessary. Cultural, spiritual, and age-specific needs of patients are considered. Collaboration with other disciplines to formulate the care plan is necessary. Knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, and developmental stages is applied in delivering patient care. Pharmacology knowledge is utilized when preparing medications and IV therapy for patients. Patient and family education is provided to promote cooperation and compliance. Emergency patient situations are responded to with established protocols. Delivery of patient care is overseen, and errors are corrected to ensure safety. Observations related to patients are reported to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Responsibility for clinical decision-making on assigned shifts is demonstrated. Continuity of care is ensured by processing physician's orders and treatment plans promptly. Priority setting in patient care delivery is managed effectively. Patient advocacy is exercised to preserve patient rights. Communication skills are utilized effectively with patients, families, and medical staff. Documentation of assessments and nursing interventions is completed for all assigned patients. Technical aspects of patient care are performed according to established policies and procedures. Emergency procedures are conducted, and patient responses are assessed. Safe use of medical equipment is demonstrated, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Other job-related duties may be assigned.
