We comprise a 221-bed hospital, 21 physician clinics, home care services, and comprehensive cancer care. As a registered professional nurse, you will assume responsibility and accountability for a group of patients during your designated shift. You will prescribe nursing care based on the nursing process consistent with the medical plan of care. This care will be shaped by input from the patient and significant others. Collaboration with physicians and other healthcare team members is essential for coordinating patient care. You will care for patients of any age, including neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. Incorporating teaching and discharge planning into the overall plan of care is a key responsibility. You will delegate certain aspects of patient care delivery to other nursing staff based on their current clinical competence and legal scope of practice. This position is represented by a nursing association. Education and Work Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Licenses/Certifications: You must possess Registered Nurse (RN) licensure and BLS certification. ACLS certification is required at time of hire. Demonstrated competency in Dysrhythmia is required during orientation for all departments except for Obstetrics and NICU. For Critical Care Units, completion of a Critical Care Course within 1 year of hire is required. Competency in IV Sedation within 6 months of hire is also required. Essential Functions: Utilize the nursing process to assess patients and design an individualized plan of care. Implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan and the patient’s response to care and progress towards established goals. Modify plans as necessary, considering age-specific, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients. Collaborate with other disciplines to formulate care plans. Apply knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, and developmental stages in patient care delivery. Utilize pharmacology knowledge when preparing and administering medications and IV therapy. Provide patient and family education to promote cooperation and compliance. Respond to emergency situations following established protocols while remaining calm. Oversee the delivery of patient care and correct errors to ensure patient safety. Document assessments, nursing interventions, and care provided to assigned patients. Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for problem-solving and clinical decision-making. Maintain effective communication with patients, families, staff, and healthcare providers. Perform technical aspects of patient care with precision, considering patients’ age and unique needs. Demonstrate safe use of equipment and perform emergency procedures when necessary.
