About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of EPIC experience preferred. License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Must-Have: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification; Telemetry experience required. Description: Registered professional nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated shift. Prescribes nursing care based on the nursing process that is consistent with the medical plan of care. Collaborates with physicians and other members of the health care team and coordinates the delivery of patient care for patients of all ages. Incorporates teaching and discharge planning needs in the overall plan of care. Delegates certain aspects of patient care delivery to other nursing staff based on their current clinical competence and legal scope of practice. Utilizes the nursing process to assess patients and implement an individualized plan of care. Modifies care plans as necessary based on patient needs. Considers age-specific, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients during care delivery. Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, and developmental stages to patient care. Utilizes pharmacology knowledge when preparing and administering medications and IV therapy. Provides patient and family education to gain cooperation and promote compliance. Assesses learning needs and adjusts educational approaches accordingly. Responds to emergency patient situations following established protocols while remaining calm. Oversees the delivery of patient care and addresses errors to ensure patient safety and wellbeing. Reports observations and problems regarding patients to the appropriate personnel promptly. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for decision-making on assigned shifts. Ensures continuity of care by processing and following through on physician orders. Prioritizes patient care effectively and adapts to changes in workload. Acts as the patient's advocate, ensuring rights are preserved. Documents assessments, nursing interventions, and care provided to all assigned patients. Performs technical aspects of patient care according to established policies. Administers medications and IVs with consideration for patient-specific needs. Demonstrates safe use of medical equipment and performs emergency procedures as necessary. Participates in other job-related duties as assigned. Maintains awareness of professional responsibilities and legal scope of practice. Utilizes effective communication skills with patients, families, staff, physicians, and coworkers.
