Madison schools are committed to making this district a place where every child thrives.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide basic emergency care for illness or injuryMonitor students' health status during periods of short-term rest or recoveryAdminister medications and carry out nursing procedures under the delegation of the school nurseMaintain student health records, via computers and patient care recordsNotify appropriate personnel of emergency situations, including parents, physicians, building personnel, and hospitalsOrder and maintain all necessary supplies and equipment in the health officeMaintain cleanliness of the health office, including health office laundryAssist in school health screening follow upPrepare bulletin board displaysOther related duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job FunctionsAbility to communicate effectively with diverse students, staff, and community, orally and in writingAbility to follow oral and written directionsAbility to maintain student confidentialityAbility to work independentlyAbility to direct othersAbility to make judgments and perform when confronted with emergency situationsAble to type at least 40 w.p.m.Minimum QualificationsExperience working with students with diabetesExperience working in a windows environmentExperience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence (i.e., valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one's skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas)Licensed RN, LPN, or completion of MATC -MMSD School Nurse's Assistant course in the previous 2 yearsCPR/AED certificationFirst Aid certificationDesired QualificationsPrior experience working with school age children desiredFluency in Spanish is highly desiredExperience working in middle or high school setting as nurse's assistantDemonstrated skill working in fast paced environment with need to multi-task throughout the dayNext StepsUpon submitting, your application will be reviewed by the hiring manager. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.School-based positions are required to be in-person unless otherwise directed by the building principal.Physical RequirementsAbility to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and may involve walking, sitting, stooping or reaching. Manual dexterity is necessary for completing general tasks while operating office equipment.
