Job Details Maine Department of Transportation - Maintenance and Operations (Region 2 - Midcoast Maine) Salary: $22.66 - $31.40 per hour Location: Searsport, ME Opening Date: May 21, 2026 • Closing Date: June 04, 2026 Responsibilities This supervisory position supports bridge, highway, traffic, maintenance, and construction projects. The incumbent directs the work of crews engaged in highway maintenance and construction activities and may operate heavy motorized equipment. Work is performed under limited supervision. Qualifications Minimum qualifications include a two-year combination of experience or education in highway/bridge construction, fleet equipment repair, or transportation-related maintenance, with at least one year of lead worker experience. The candidate must possess the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities noted above with a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must be willing to work at a higher class as required and comply with required licenses and certifications. Licensing / Registration / Certification Requirements Valid Class A motor vehicle license issued by the State of Maine Completion of the 30-hour OSHA Safety course in construction (20 CFR Part 1926) Benefits Work-Life Fit – 13 paid holidays and over 3 weeks of vacation leave annually, with vacation leave accrual increasing with years of service; overtime-exempt employees receive personal leave. Wellness – 12 days of sick leave annually. Health Insurance Coverage – The State of Maine pays 85%-95% of employee-only premiums ($11,196.96 - $12,514.32 annual value) depending on salary. Dental Insurance – 100% of employee-only dental premiums ($358.08 annual value). Retirement Plan – State contribution equivalent to 14.11% of employee pay toward the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS).
