Plan Production // \n\n Work independently to support Project Managers, Project Engineers and Designers with technical design tasks for various projects.\n Utilize engineering and drafting software to complete assignments, such as generating plan and profile drawings to include cross-sections, underground utilities, etc. from survey files and/or record drawings.\n Complete redline markups and accurately incorporates review comments with minimal supervision.\n Prepare intermediate manual or computer-aided design drawings, cost estimates, bills of materials, plus required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects.\n Interpret survey notes, utility records, and civil plans to create accurate base drawings.\n Perform standard calculations, including elevations, grades, utility dimensions, and material quantities.\n Support collection of field data or utility record information when required. \n\n2. Compliance + Quality // \n\n Apply and follow QA/QC procedures consistently.\n Identify potential errors or inconsistencies and correct them proactively.\n Maintain compliance with company standards and safety requirements.\n\n3. Communication + Collaboration // \n\n Work with supervisor, project manager, mentors, and various internal personnel to complete assignments within discipline and other disciplines.\n Serve as a resource to the design staff on matters concerning drafting practices and procedures.\n\n4. Training, Learning + Advancement // \n\n Develop skills in interpreting survey data, utility records, and engineering plans.\n\n5. Client + Internal Satisfaction // \n\n Work with internal clients daily, problem solve minor issues and escalate concerns when needed.\n Apply the client’s standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, and procedures and/or appropriate industry standards in preparing layouts.\n\n6. Technical //\n\n Conduct site surveys, walk-outs, and field verifications to capture accurate route, pole, structure, and right-of-way conditions.\n Collect field data including measurements, GPS coordinates, photos, pole loading conditions, existing utility attachments, and make-ready requirements.\n Identify field constraints—obstructions, conflicts, access limitations, and environmental considerations—that affect constructability and route selection.\n Verify existing infrastructure (conduit, handholes, vaults, pedestals, aerial strand) against records and flag discrepancies.\n Provide on-site design support and clarification to construction and splicing crews during project implementation.\n Perform field redlines and capture as-built conditions for incorporation into final design documentation.\n Develop detailed outside plant designs using GIS, CAD, and asset management tools (e.g., 3-GIS, OSPI/IQGeo, VETRO FiberMap, AutoCAD, MicroStation).\n Translate field-collected data into accurate, constructable construction drawings, route maps, and permit exhibits.\n Incorporate network topology considerations such as feeder/distribution segmentation, splitter hierarchy, fiber counts, and redundancy into the physical design.\n Design-to-build conformance: Compare as-built field conditions against the approved design to confirm routes, structures, fiber counts, and hardware placement were built as engineered.\n Splice and connectivity verification: Validate splice points, splice enclosures, fiber assignments, and port/splitter connectivity against the design and splice schematics.\n Continuity and integrity checks: Coordinate with or review results from OTDR traces, power meter readings, and continuity testing to confirm fiber integrity, acceptable loss budgets, and end-to-end connectivity.\n Documentation reconciliation: Reconcile field redlines, test results, and as-built data; update GIS and design records so the documented network reflects the physical build.\n Discrepancy resolution: Identify, document, and track build deviations or defects; coordinate corrective action with construction and splicing crews and confirm resolution.\n Closeout support: Compile verified as-built packages, test documentation, and conformance records for client acceptance and project handoff.\n\nCOBBFENDLEY CHARACTERISTICS\n\n We Collaborate // with a professional attitude making communication a priority.\n We Commit // to maintaining a safe and inclusive work environment, with a focus on accountability. \n We Build Communities // by fulfilling our responsibilities with integrity that is consistent with industry standards.\n\nPHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS + ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS\nWork is carried out in both a professional office and various outdoor environments.\n\n Seated and Standing Position. Extended periods of sitting and standing in an upright position at a workstation or job site.\n Mobility. Movement within the office and job sites, including navigating between floors, workstations, high-traffic areas, and various walking surfaces.\n Head and Neck Movement. Forward flexion, extension, or lateral rotation of the head and neck while using multiple computer screens.\n Repetitive Motion. Repetitive finger movements for operating a computer mouse and typing on a keyboard. Includes activities such as reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling.\n Arm Movement. Extending hands and arms in various directions, such as overhead, below the waist, forward, or laterally.\n Object Handling. Raising or lowering objects from one level to another and transporting objects by holding them in the hands, arms, or over the shoulder.\n Cognitive Requirements. Selective attention, oral comprehension, oral expression, speech recognition, speech clarity, written comprehension, written expression, problem sensitivity, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, number facility, information ordering, category flexibility, flexibility of closure, fluency of ideas, and originality.\n Physical Abilities. Includes hand-eye coordination, steadiness, upper and lower body strength, control precision, stamina, multi-limb coordination, static strength, manual dexterity, and depth perception.\n Alertness. Must remain alert and responsive while working in lane closure zones adjacent to high-traffic and dynamic areas.\n Lifting and Carrying. Capable of lifting, carrying, and balancing equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds in various environments, including remote, rural, or urban settings.\n Walking and Climbing. Ability to walk long distances (3+ miles) and climb on uneven surfaces.\n Office Conditions. Includes extensive use of electronic devices such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones. Additionally, tasks may involve the use of cutting tools and equipment like rotary paper cutters and plotting devices.\n Outdoor Conditions. Includes walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, confined spaces, and exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat and freezing temperatures). Potential exposure to high noise levels and various allergens, including poison ivy, sumac, dust, pollen, and cedar. Potential exposure to wildlife hazards such as animals, insects, and plants. Ability to move effectively in and around construction sites, traffic work zones, and other outdoor assignments.\n Safety and Equipment Use. Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, along with use of hand and power tools.\n Driving and Vehicle Use. May involve driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers, potentially operating watercraft, and for extended periods of time.\n\nEXPECTED WORK HOURS\n\n This is a full-time position, generally 40 hours per week, however, hours may fluctuate depending on department needs including the use of overtime. \n CobbFendley’s standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST. Generally, employees receive a 1-hour unpaid lunch break free of duty.
