We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Patient Financial Counselor to join our oncology team and serve as a trusted resource for patients navigating the financial aspects of their care.In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, providers, and insurance partners to help patients understand their benefits, estimate out-of-pocket costs, explore financial assistance programs, and remove barriers to treatment. This position requires strong collaboration with internal teams, direct patient engagement, and a high level of organization to ensure timely and accurate financial processes. The PFC will work in a hybrid schedule and is expected to meet with patients both in person and virtually to discuss financial options and assist with payment solutions.Meet with patients to review and explain insurance coverage, estimated out-of-pocket costs, and financial responsibilitiesEducate and assist patients with copay assistance programs, grants, and other financial resourcesCollect patient balances in accordance with organizational policies and proceduresCreate and manage patient budget or payment plans tailored to individual needsDocument financial discussions and actions clearly and accurately in the appropriate systemCollaborate closely with front-end staff, billing, collections, and other revenue cycle team members to ensure continuity of care and financial accuracyEnsure all assigned tasks are completed accurately and within established timelinesMaintain a task-oriented approach while balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.Support team-based workflows and actively contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent required.Position requires at least 3 years experience in healthcare financial counseling, patient accounts, billing, or revenue cycle strongly preferred.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage patients sensitively and professionally.Have excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Must be comfortable communicating with medical professionals as an integral part of the care team.Demonstrated ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a teamHigh level of organization, attention to detail, and time-management skillsComfort with technology, EPM/EHR systems and financial platforms.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
