Role Description As a Direct Support Professional at Opportunity Works Connecticut, Inc., you will provide person-centered support to adults with disabilities in an on-site setting in Vernon Rockville, CT. This full-time role involves assisting individuals with daily living activities, employment-related tasks, community integration, and skill-building to foster independence and self-confidence. You will implement individual support plans, model appropriate workplace and social behaviors, and help individuals access community resources and opportunities. The role includes documenting progress, collaborating with team members and families, and advocating for the rights and preferences of each individual served. You will also participate in ongoing training and follow agency policies and safety procedures to maintain a supportive and inclusive environment. Qualifications Background in Human Services or related fields, with a commitment to supporting individuals with diverse needs. Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to build trusting relationships and collaborate with individuals, families, and team members. Knowledge of Intellectual Disabilities and experience or willingness to learn best practices for person-centered support. Ability to provide Training and coaching to individuals in daily living, social, and employment skills. High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in human services or related discipline preferred. Reliable, patient, and compassionate approach, with the ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Basic computer skills for documentation and communication; ability to follow written plans and procedures.
