Nursery Sales Associate

41 Home & Garden is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Nursery Sales Associate to join our team! If you have a love for plants, a knack for customer service, and a desire to help others create beautiful gardens, we want to hear from you.

Job Summary:

As a Nursery Sales Associate, you will be the face of our nursery, providing exceptional customer service and expert advice to our valued customers. You will assist customers in selecting the perfect plants, trees, shrubs, and gardening supplies to meet their needs, while maintaining a clean and organized sales floor and ensuring the health and vitality of our plant stock.

Responsibilities:

• Customer Service:
• • Greet and assist customers with a friendly and positive attitude.
  • Provide expert advice on plant selection, care, and maintenance.
  • Answer customer questions about plant varieties, soil types, fertilizers, and pest control.
  • Assist customers with loading and unloading purchases.
  • Handle customer complaints and resolve issues effectively.
• Sales & Merchandising:
• • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using POS systems.
  • Promote and upsell related products and services.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor.
  • Assist with pricing, tagging, and displaying merchandise.
  • Create attractive plant displays and maintain plant signage.
• Plant Care:
• • Water, prune, and fertilize plants as needed.
  • Monitor plant health and identify signs of disease or pests.
  • Assist with receiving and unloading plant deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate plant inventory.
  • Cull and remove dead or dying plants.
• General Duties:
• • Assist with general nursery maintenance, including sweeping, cleaning, and organizing.
  • Stay up-to-date on new plant varieties, gardening trends, and best practices.
  • Work as a team player to achieve sales goals and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
• • Previous retail sales experience preferred, ideally in a nursery, garden center, or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of plants, gardening, and horticulture is essential.
• Skills:
• • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.  
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.  
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
  • Basic computer skills and experience with POS systems.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
